We are seeking a new practitioner to join the Cloud First Growth Team with a speciality in AWS Cloud Architecture based out of our Cork Office.

The Opportunity:

As a Cloud Engineer is responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based applications and infrastructure. The role requires a thorough understanding of cloud service providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and others.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with cloud architecture, automation, security, and support, combined with excellent problem-solving skills.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Cloud Architecture and Design: Design scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructures based on business requirements. Analyse existing workflows and recommend enhancements or migration paths to the cloud.
  • Implementation and Deployment: Build and configure cloud-based environments, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates. Automate deployment processes for efficiency and repeatability.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for cloud resources. Optimise performance, ensure uptime, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security controls that protect data and resources in the cloud. Work with compliance frameworks relevant to the organisation’s industry (such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
  • Cost Optimisation: Track cloud usage and spending. Identify cost-saving opportunities and suggest resource optimisations or reserved capacity purchases where appropriate.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, system administrators, DevOps professionals, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions. Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud technologies.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud systems, including architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of new cloud technologies and best practices. Proactively seek ways to improve system reliability, performance, and security.
