As a Kitchen Assistant you will play a crucial part in supporting and maintaining a busy work environment and gaining valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of maintaining a high standard of hygiene within the centre and resourcing all aspects of the Kitchen Area.This placement is designed to provide you with practical skills and knowledge in food storage, hygiene management, stock management, and HACCP protocols. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable practical experience.
The Kitchen Assistants will support the general running of Kitchen areas.
The participants will be trained & mentored in the following:- Complying with standard portion sizes.
- Appropriate use of materials and equipment.
- Preparing & restocking of kitchen area.
- Maintaining hygiene conditions of kitchen and other related areas
- Minimising Health & Safety risks while undertaking duties.
- Reporting defects or hazards on-site to management
- Adhere to good practice with regard to hygiene, health and safety and HACCP.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.
The participants will receive formal/informal training and mentoring in the following:

- Children First child protection training
- Stock rotation training
- Health and safety protocol
- Cleaning and hygiene standards
