Document Controller - Construction

The Document Controller is responsible for managing and maintaining document control processes across complex construction projects.

The role focuses on the effective control, organisation, and governance of project documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with procedures, standards, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain document control and information management systems in line with project and organisational procedures.
  • Oversee document creation, version control, review, approval, and distribution processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and traceability.
  • Support the setup, configuration, and ongoing administration of document management systems, including system migrations where required.
  • Ensure all project documentation complies with established standards, policies, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate document registers, audit trails, and revision histories to support compliance and reporting needs.
  • Act as a key point of contact for document-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and provide guidance to document controllers and project administrators as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve document control processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Generate document control reports to support project teams and management.
  • 5+ years experience in Document Control within construction or complex project environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with document management systems.
  • Proven experience working within structured project procedures and quality management frameworks.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while contributing as part of a wider project team.
