Quantity Surveyor (PQS)

Our client is a highly regarded and well-established consultancy specialising in public sector projects, with a strong track record in Department of Education and housing developments, they are experiencing sustained growth and are seeking a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team.

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Role Overview:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in delivering high-quality cost consultancy services across a portfolio of nationwide public sector projects. You will be responsible for preparing tenders, managing project finances, and ensuring value for money while maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance.

This is a hands-on role where you will quickly take ownership of your own set of projects, liaising closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Tender Preparation & Cost Planning: Prepare detailed and accurate tender documents, cost plans, and estimates for public sector projects.
Budget Management: Monitor project costs, prepare interim valuations, and manage cash flow to ensure projects remain within budget.
Contract Administration: Manage contractual matters, including payment applications, variations, and final accounts.
Stakeholder Liaison: Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and design teams, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Risk Management: Identify and manage risks to minimise potential impacts on cost and schedule.
Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to relevant regulations, public procurement guidelines, and internal quality standards.
Reporting: Provide regular progress and cost reports to senior management and clients.

Site Visits: Attend project sites nationwide at least once per week to monitor progress and assess works.

Requirements:

Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a PQS consultancy environment, ideally at Senior QS level.
Strong knowledge of public sector procurement, particularly Department of Education and housing projects.
Proven track record of independently managing multiple projects from inception to completion.
Excellent understanding of construction contracts, including Public Works Contracts.
High attention to detail, strong numeracy skills, and excellent commercial acumen.
Strong IT skills, including MS Office and CostX.

Full, clean driving licence and flexibility to travel nationwide for site visits.
