We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental Coordinator on behalf of one of our clients in the Agricultural sector.In this key role, you’ll ensure environmental compliance, promote resource efficiency and drive sustainability initiatives across the company’s farming operations. You’ll oversee slurry management, water usage, air quality and waste handling—ensuring all activities meet EPA and other regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about environmental protection and capable of building strong relationships with farm teams, regulatory bodies and local communities to support the company’s commitment to responsible farming.
Location: Co. WaterfordSalary: €45,000 – €50,000 DOE
Hours: Monday–Friday, 07:30–16:30 (flexibility required)
Reporting to: Deputy General Manager / Group Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator
Key Responsibilities: Environmental Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with EPA, Local Council and Department of Agriculture regulations.Maintain detailed records for waste management, water quality, nutrient management plans and permits.
Prepare and submit environmental reports accurately and on-time.
Slurry & Nutrient Management
Manage and document slurry storage and land application in line with license conditions and the Nitrates Directive.Develop nutrient management plans that protect waterways while enhancing soil health.
Train staff and contractors in best slurry management and application practices.
Water & Air Quality Management
Monitor water consumption and lead conservation initiatives.Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with storage, runoff and groundwater standards.
Support odour and air quality management programmes to maintain strong community relations.
Sustainability & Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement sustainability improvements (e.g., renewable energy, recycling, resource efficiency).Work with farm management to integrate environmental best practices in line with BAT standards.
Keep up to date with new regulations, technologies and sustainability trends.
Training, Communication & Relationship Management
Deliver environmental training and awareness programmes to farm staff.Act as the main contact for regulators, consultants and community stakeholders.
Foster positive working relationships across the organisation and with external partners to ensure open communication and trust.
Manage the EDEN and AgFood portals across all farms.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Environmental Science, Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Natural Resources or related discipline (or equivalent experience).Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.
Knowledge of livestock or agricultural production systems (pig farming experience an advantage, but not essential).
Familiarity with environmental regulations (waste, water, air, slurry).
Experience in nutrient management planning and slurry application in compliance with environmental regulations.
Familiarity with EPA procedures, including licensing and enforcement, is an advantage.
Excellent organisational, reporting and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
Full driving licence valid in Ireland is required due to travel between farm sites.
Additional Information:
Base: Waterford (80% on-site, with travel to Wexford and Meath as required).Hybrid option: Up to 1 day per week (after 6-month probation).
Travel: Mileage reimbursed for business travel.
