Overview

An established adult disability residential service is seeking a motivated and compassionate Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join its multidisciplinary team. The service supports adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs, with a strong emphasis on person-centred practice, independence, and quality of life.

This role is ideal for a Staff Grade OT who is looking to develop their clinical skills within a supportive environment that values training, collaboration, and professional growth.

Role Purpose

The Staff Grade Occupational Therapist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions to adults with disabilities. The role focuses on promoting independence, participation in meaningful activities, and enhancing daily living skills through evidence-based practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs.
  • Complete comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and formulate intervention plans.
  • Deliver individualised, person-centred interventions to support daily living, functional skills, and community participation.
  • Support residents with sensory integration, environmental adaptation, and assistive technology where appropriate.
  • Contribute to positive behavioural support approaches in collaboration with the Behavioural Specialist and MDT.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, and care planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and complete required documentation.
  • Work within professional scope of practice, CORU standards, and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and attend relevant training and supervision.
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent qualification recognised by CORU.
  • Eligible for registration with CORU (or in the process).
Essential Experience
  • Experience working with adults with disabilities, including intellectual disability and/or complex needs (placement experience considered).
Desirable
  • Experience working in residential or community disability services.
  • Experience supporting individuals with behaviours of concern.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration, assistive technology, or environmental adaptations.
