General Ledger and Reporting Manager

We are working on behalf of a governing body to recruit a General Ledger and Reporting Manager. This is a senior finance role reporting to the Group Head of Finance Operations, responsible for the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the general ledger and group financial reporting processes across multiple entities.

The successful candidate will play a central role in statutory reporting, financial consolidation, tax compliance and audit management, while leading a high-performing team and driving continuous improvement in finance operations.

The General Ledger and Reporting Manager will ensure effective internal controls, compliance with accounting standards and delivery of high-quality financial reporting. Responsibilities include month-end close, financial statement preparation, intercompany reconciliations, fixed asset management, cash monitoring and managing both direct and indirect tax obligations.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities: General Ledger Management

Oversee the group-wide general ledger, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with accounting policies.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes across all entities.
Review and approve journal entries, accruals and adjustments.

Maintain the group chart of accounts and ensure consistency across subsidiaries.

Financial Reporting, Audit & Compliance

Prepare statutory financial statements for audit and regulatory requirements.
Manage the external audit with the Comptroller and Auditor General.

Coordinate tax audits and ensure all documentation is provided on time.

Intercompany & Consolidation

Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations and eliminations.

Lead the consolidation of financial data for the company and subsidiaries.

Cash Management

Monitor group liquidity and daily cash position.

Forecast cash flow requirements with the Strategic and Treasury Finance Manager.

Fixed Asset Management

Oversee accounting for acquisitions, capitalisation, depreciation, transfers, revaluations and disposals.
Maintain and manage the fixed asset register across all group entities.

Coordinate asset tagging and alignment with operational teams.

Tax Compliance & Reporting

Ensure timely preparation, filing and payment of all tax obligations.
Prepare tax budgets, forecasts and participate in tax planning.

Monitor tax law changes and assess business impact.

Continuous Improvement

Drive automation, optimisation and best practice in finance processes.
Lead process reviews and implement system improvements.

Support the adoption of ERP, EPM and BI tools such as Power BI.

Governance & Compliance

Safeguard data integrity and financial controls.

Ensure adherence to company policies, legislation and finance policies.

Team Leadership

Lead, develop and mentor the General Ledger and Reporting team.

Collaborate with the wider finance function for consistent reporting and policy alignment.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (required).
Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA) (required).
10+ years post-qualification experience, with at least 4 years in a senior finance leadership role (commercial or semi-state).
Proven track record in financial reporting, consolidation and business partnership.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities with resilience and adaptability.
Advanced Excel and strong ERP/financial systems experience (BI tools desirable).
Demonstrated success in leading finance transformations and systems improvements.
Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory frameworks.

ESG reporting experience (desirable).
