This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.
St. Lachtain's GAA Club require a caretaker/groundskeeper for the following.Role Purpose
The Caretaker/Groundskeeper will ensure the club’s facilities, pitches, and grounds are maintained to the highest standard, providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for players, members, and visitors. This role is central to supporting the day-to-day running of the club.
Key Responsibilities
Pitch & Grounds Maintenance
Mark, cut, and maintain playing pitches to GAA standards.
Repair goalmouths, reseed, roll pitches, and carry out divot repair.
Maintain goalposts, nets, flags, and training equipment.
Manage grass cutting, strimming, weed control, and general landscaping.
Monitor pitch usage and advise on rest/rotation to prevent damage.
Facilities & Clubhouse Caretaking
Open and close dressing rooms, clubhouse, and grounds as required.
Maintain cleanliness of dressing rooms, toilets, hallways, gym, and meeting rooms.
Assist with basic maintenance and minor repairs (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical).
Ensure storage areas are tidy and equipment is safely stored.
Health, Safety & Security
Conduct regular safety checks of facilities, pitches, and equipment.
Ensure entrances, exits, and walkways are safe and accessible.
Lock and secure clubhouse and gates after use.
Report major maintenance or safety issues to the Club Executive.
Matchday & Events Support
Prepare pitches and facilities for matches and training (flags, nets, goalposts, dugouts).
Assist with set-up and clean-up for events, fundraisers, and community activities.
Coordinate with team mentors and club officials to ensure smooth operations.
Skills & Experience
Experience in groundskeeping, caretaking, or facility maintenance (desirable).
Knowledge of pitch preparation and grass care (training can be provided).
Practical maintenance skills (basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, or electrics).
Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
Good communication and teamwork skills with coaches, players, and volunteers.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and match days.- Sector:
