Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems.

Main Purpose of Role

Responsible for managing the supply of materials to meet production requirements and maintain target stock levels according to pre-established demand. This role contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing process by ensuring the timely availability of materials and maximizing productivity.

The Material Planner will work closely with cross-functional teams, as well as external suppliers, to achieve these objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain material schedules to ensure optimal inventory levels. Analyse and forecast material requirements based on production schedules and customer orders.
  • Oversee and manage the supply of materials to meet production requirements and maintain optimum stock levels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers. Evaluate supplier performance to ensure the reliable supply of materials.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and cross-functional teams to ensure material availability and timely delivery.
  • Maintain material planning parameters in SAP.
  • Ensure the timely flow of materials to production lines.
  • Responsible for forecasting anticipated materials requirements and co-ordinating supply.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on material supply and inventory levels.
  • Co-ordinate the efficient movement of materials.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum NFQ Level 7 or equivalent.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Excel experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
