The Opportunity:
We are seeking a commercially astute and people-focused Commercial Manager to join a market-leading specialist subcontractor. With decades of expertise in delivering fire rated interlocking modular construction the company is exceptionally well-positioned to capitalise on the ongoing European Data Centre expansion.
Operating with strong margins and a focus on high-value projects, this business is ahead of the curve in its investment in people and technology. This is a pivotal role that begins with a hands-on immersion into the business and evolves into a high-level oversight position as you scale the commercial team and future-proof the company's next 20 years.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Oversight: Transition from initial hands-on commercial management to a top-level leadership role, overseeing the commercial health of a high-value project portfolio.
- Team Development & Recruitment: Lead and mentor an existing team of four, including the career development of a Senior Surveyor into a management role. Identify and hire new talent to support business growth.
- Contractual Excellence: Act as the internal authority on contract law and risk, ensuring the business is protected from a subcontractor perspective.
- Systems & SOPs: Utilize and refine a newly implemented bespoke commercial management system. Drive rigorous Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) around project changes and variation management to keep ahead of constantly changing project landscape
- Supply Chain Management: Leverage and maintain a strong, established supply chain to ensure project continuity and margin protection.
- Internal Growth Strategy: Work closely with business leadership on your own professional development plan while simultaneously building out robust progression paths for your team.
Specialist Expertise
