Staff Grade Speech and language therapist

Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Grade Speech & Language Therapist to join a dynamic team delivering services in an acute hospital setting. The successful candidate will work with adult inpatients presenting with a range of communication and swallowing disorders, contributing to high-quality, person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adult patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
• Manage a caseload within an acute care setting, including patients with complex medical and neurological conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support integrated care planning and discharge processes.
• Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and outcome measurement.
• Participate in CPD activities and clinical supervision.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with professional and legal standards.

Essential Requirements:

• A recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
• CORU registration (or eligibility for same).
• Clinical experience in the assessment and management of communication and dysphagia in adults.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

• Postgraduate training in dysphagia.
• Previous experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Familiarity with outcome measures in speech and language therapy.
• Experience using electronic medical record systems.
