SHEQ Advisor

Galway, Ireland

Permanent

Full Time

Negotiable Salary

The Role

We are proud to be partnering with a leading, award-winning main contractor based in Ireland to recruit an experienced SHEQ Advisor for their projects in Galway. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated SHEQ professional — at mid-level or the upper end of junior level — to join a progressive, fast-paced construction environment and truly take ownership of their remit.

Our client operates across a diverse range of sectors including residential, commercial, healthcare, hotel & leisure, student accommodation and educational, and holds ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications — reflecting their genuine commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising site teams and management on all matters relating to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
  • Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments across live construction projects
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining SHEQ documentation, policies and procedures
  • Investigating incidents, near misses and hazards, producing detailed reports and driving corrective actions
  • Supporting inductions, toolbox talks and SHEQ training for site operatives and management
  • Ensuring compliance with Irish health & safety legislation and client-specific requirements
  • Contributing to the maintenance of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Promoting and embedding a positive, safety-first culture across all project sites
What We're Looking For
  • A relevant qualification in Health & Safety and/or Environmental Management (e.g. NEBOSH, NFQ Level 7/8 in Health & Safety or equivalent)
  • Experience gained within a construction environment — main contractor or subcontractor background
  • Mid-level experience, or a strong junior professional ready to take the next step in their career
  • Confident working on-site and engaging directly with site teams and management
  • Proactive, organised and self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workload
  • A genuine commitment to driving a safety-first standard and culture
  • Strong communication skills — written and verbal
  • Full driving licence desirable
What's on Offer
  • A competitive salary package reviewed in line with your experience and expectations
  • A progressive career environment with genuine opportunities for growth and development
  • Exposure to a diverse and prestigious project portfolio across multiple sectors
  • The backing of an ISO-certified, award-winning contractor with strong financial stability
  • A collaborative and ambitious team culture where your contribution genuinely matters
