We are seeking a highly skilled Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist to lead our technical compliance and quality management systems. This is a critical senior-level role responsible for ensuring that all production processes exceed EU regulatory standards and GFSI benchmarks.

The successful candidate will act as the primary technical authority on-site for food safety culture and regulatory audits.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Systems Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and HACCP plans in strict compliance with EU Regulation 852/2004 and Irish national standards.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies (e.g., FSAI, SFPA, DAFM) during official inspections and audits.
  • Audit Management: Manage and execute the internal audit schedule; lead the site through third-party certification audits (e.g., BRCGS, FSSC 22000) and customer-specific quality audits.
  • Risk Mitigation: Perform advanced hazard analysis and risk assessments (HACCP/TACCP/VACCP) to identify, control, and eliminate food safety risks across the supply chain.
  • CAPA Ownership: Drive the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) program, utilizing root cause analysis to resolve non-conformances and prevent recurrence.
  • Compliance & Traceability: Oversee the end-to-end traceability system, ensuring all documentation is accurate, digitized, and audit-ready at all times.
  • Training & Strategy: Design and deliver specialized training programs for production staff on GMP, food hygiene, and emerging regulatory requirements to foster a robust food safety culture.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor degree in Science-related discipline (e.g., Food Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related scientific field).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a specialized Quality Assurance role within food manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Certified Lead Auditor or Level 2 HACCP qualification or higher is highly desirable.
  • Legislation: Deep knowledge of the EU Hygiene Package and specific seafood export certification.
