Our client, The One Mile Dairy Limited, based in Oranmore, Co. Galway, is currently seeking a Dairy Farm Assistant for immediate start for their farm at Oranmore, Co. Galway.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:- Assist with twice-daily milking using modern parlour systems
- Monitor cow health and behaviour during milking
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of milking equipment and parlour
- Feed and care for dairy cows and young stock
- Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or injury
- Assist with calving and general animal husbandry
- Maintain cleanliness of animal housing, sheds, and yard areas
- Assist with fencing, fieldwork, and general repairs as needed
- Operate tractors and other farm machinery (training provided if required)
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of animal treatments, feed usage, and milking data
- At least 3 years of previous experience working on a dairy farm
- No formal training or certification is required once candidate has requisite experience, but a relevant certification is a plus
- Ability to competently complete all role tasks listed above
- Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A strong interest in animal welfare and sustainable farming practices
- Full driving licence is desirable
