About the Opportunity

A leading public healthcare organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Capital Projects Manager to join its Capital & Estates function in the Mid-West region. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering complex capital projects that directly impact healthcare infrastructure and patient environments.

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping, delivering, and maintaining critical healthcare facilities—ranging from refurbishment works to large-scale capital developments—within a highly regulated and impactful environment.

The role offers an attractive work-life balance, including 30 days’ annual leave and a 35-hour working week. The successful candidate will be based in the National Technology Park. Please note that there is a strict requirement for a minimum of seven years’ relevant professional experience, along with a Level 8 (or higher) Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) major academic award in Architecture, Engineering, or Surveying.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, self-starting professional with strong client-side delivery experience and a hands-on approach to project execution. They will be comfortable managing design teams and engaging with multiple stakeholders, demonstrating clear leadership capability.

Candidates should currently operate at a senior level—such as Senior Project Manager, Senior Engineer, or Senior Surveyor—with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.

The Role

Reporting to the Estates Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of capital and infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and compliance standards. This role combines strategic oversight, technical expertise, and hands-on project leadership across a diverse portfolio including healthcare facilities, residential settings, and specialist environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and execution of major and minor capital projects from concept through to completion
  • Develop project briefs, manage stakeholder consultations, and oversee procurement processes
  • Appoint and manage design teams, consultants, and contractors
  • Ensure full compliance with planning, building, fire safety, and health & safety regulations
  • Control project budgets, timelines, and quality standards, providing regular reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Oversee commissioning, equipping, and operational readiness of new facilities
  • Manage maintenance programmes and lifecycle planning for buildings and infrastructure
  • Support property portfolio management and strategic estate planning
  • Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across the estate
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and foster strong stakeholder relationships across clinical and operational functions

About You

You are a highly capable project leader with strong technical expertise and a proven track record in delivering complex construction or infrastructure projects.

You will bring:

  • A Level 8+ qualification in Engineering, Architecture, or Surveying (or equivalent)
  • Membership (or eligibility) with a recognised professional body (e.g. Engineers, Surveyors, Architects)
  • 7+ years’ relevant experience in construction, project management, or building services
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, procurement, and public sector project delivery
  • Experience managing budgets, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills

Experience within healthcare or regulated environments is highly desirable.
