Senior Stress Analysis Mechanical Engineer

Due to our on-going success securing large-scale projects for 2025 we have a requirement for a Senior Stress Analysis Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Department in Dublin. The role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of piping stress analysis within the Dublin engineering group, including collaboration with other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.This includes leading and coordinating analysis activities across multiple ongoing projects, mentoring and training junior engineers, and ensuring all work complies with relevant industry codes and standards. Your expertise will directly support the safe and efficient design of piping systems used in pharmaceutical manufacturing and processing facilities.
- - Lead Piping Stress Analysis for the Dublin Business unit across multiple concurrent projects
- Perform detailed stress analysis of piping systems using CAESAR II, including static and dynamic loads, thermal expansion, pressure, and support conditions
- Conduct piping stress calculations to verify and support computer-based analysis and define relevant load cases
- Determine piping loads on vessels, structures and equipment
- Ensure all stress analysis complies with relevant client specifications and industry codes such as ASME B31.3, ISO 13480
- Review piping layouts and isometrics to assess stress risks and recommend routing/support changes as needed
- Produce high-quality technical reports and documentation suitable for internal use and client submission
- Check and approve piping stress analysis calculations, reports, and design deliverables
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Piping, Process, Building Services and all other disciplines
- Prepare proposals and hour estimates for stress analysis on new projects
- Attend and lead design reviews, client meetings, and constructability assessments.
- Mentor and train junior engineers, providing guidance on stress analysis methods, code interpretation, and project execution
- Support development of internal standards and best practices related to piping stress and design
- Support development of internal library of standard project piping specifications
- Coordinate with stress analysis leads from other business units to ensure standardised ways of working, best practices and resource allocation
- - Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in mechanical/piping stress analysis, with significant experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or process industries.
- Expertise in CAESAR II software for piping stress analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including ASME B31.3, ISO 13480, and other relevant design standards for pharmaceutical and biotech industry
- Proven experience designing and analyzing piping systems in regulated industries.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, with strong technical report writing capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and experience leading small technical teams
- Experience checking and approving engineering deliverables for compliance and accuracy
- Experience working in or with EPC/EPCM consultancies or pharmaceutical design firms.
- Familiarity with pipe support design and coordination with structural engineering.
- Understanding of GMP/GEP principles and cleanroom design considerations.
- Professional engineering license or chartership (PE, CEng, etc.) is an advantage.
- Familiarity with other engineering tools such as CADWorx, Navisworks, SmartPlant, or similar.
