Job Title: Project Manager
Overview
A growing engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Projects & Engineering team. Reporting to the Projects & Engineering Manager, this role plays a key part in delivering complex engineering projects to a diverse customer base.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal departments including engineering, quality, and production, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, technical process solutions. The role focuses on planning, organising, and executing projects to meet safety, time, cost, and performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team of project, process, and mechanical engineers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and maintaining strong relationships.
- Oversee all phases of projects, including design, procurement, construction, and testing.
- Drive internal teams to achieve project milestones and objectives.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with specifications and quality standards.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to meet project and customer requirements.
- Maintain strong commercial awareness when making project decisions.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Review and interpret client specifications, including scope of supply and commercial terms.
- Manage and review P&IDs and oversee change control processes.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as technical specifications, procurement documentation, and handover packs.
- Approve purchase requisitions for project equipment and components.
- Conduct design reviews with clients and internal departments.
- Maintain project databases and ensure proper documentation control.
- Inspect mechanical builds during project execution.
- Facilitate clear communication and reporting across all stakeholders.
- Support incoming inspection of equipment and components.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Provide support for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and commissioning activities.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a related industry.
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Process, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in mechanical and process engineering.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Proactive, results-driven, and highly organised approach to work.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexible and adaptable approach in a dynamic project environment.
