A dedicated Early Years Educator who delivers excellence in care and education. Focusing on fostering an environment of calm, order and joy where children are encouraged to lead their own learning. Empowering children to develop self-confidence through purposeful play and exploration, observation-led planning and the coordination of fun and meaningful learning activities.
A proactive team player, adept at following pedagogical direction while offering mutual support to colleagues to maintain our high standard of care.
Key Responsibilities- Pedagogy & Child Development
- Facilitate Learning: Encourage children’s natural curiosity by providing opportunities for discovery, exploration, and spontaneous activities.
- Observation-Led Teaching: Actively observe children’s development (PILES) to provide timely, appropriate support while fostering independence.
- Curriculum Planning: Collaborate with the Educational Team to plan and implement a dynamic, interest-based curriculum.
- Holistic Support: Support children in building self-confidence and emotional regulation.
- Daily Operations & Care
- Daily Care Routines: Manage essential care tasks including snack preparation, feeding, nap supervision, and toilet training with dignity and respect.
- Environment Stewardship: Maintain a high standard of hygiene, ensuring the classroom and garden areas are clean, safe, and inviting.
- Activity Coordination: Organize varied, age-appropriate learning experiences that align with our educational goals.
- Safety, Compliance & Professionalism
- Child Protection: Act as a vigilant advocate for child safety, following all protection procedures and reporting concerns to management immediately.
- Health & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to health and safety protocols, including fire evacuation procedures and hygiene standards.
- Professional Growth: Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development (CPD).
- Confidentiality: Maintain absolute discretion regarding children and their families at all times.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Minimum FETAC/QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education.
- Experience: Previous experience is an advantage, but we welcome enthusiastic newly-qualified candidates as full training is provided.
- Garda Vetting (and Police Clearance)
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Teamwork: A collaborative mindset—the ability to lead initiatives while also following the guidance of the Educational Team.
- Personal Qualities: A warm, kind, and assertive nature. A good sense of humour and a genuine passion for early years care and education are essential.
- Knowledge: A solid understanding of current childcare legislation and regulations (e.g., Tusla, Aistear, and Siolta).
