This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance.Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Job Description
During the 6-month placement, you will gain practical experience in various aspects of the role and be guided by the Production Manager.
On a daily basis, you will be involved in:- Assisting with setting up of the production line.
- Learning about and assisting with recording raw material details for traceability and stock control,
- Assisting with packing product into trays and palletising,
- Learning about and assisting with introductory quality checks to ensure the correct label and information is on the product.
- Assisting with wash down and cleaning of production space everyday in collaboration with the rest of the team.
You may be asked to assist with picking orders for dispatch in the warehouse. Full training and assistance in all areas will be provided. You will not be expected to work on your own and will be part of a team. You will be given ample opportunities to learn about our products.
External audits are an integral part of the food production industry and so you will be given the chance to gain insight and learning into what happens during audits and how to be prepared for them. (you will not be expected to perform any tasks or part of the audit by yourself.)
By the end of the programme, you will have developed the following skills; food handling, teamwork, problem solving, listening, communication, time management, attention to detail, quality control, using production equipment, picking and packing orders and paperwork completion.
Role Description
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.
