Drawing Office Manager
An established and award-winning engineering firm is expanding its operations and is seeking to appoint a forward-thinking Drawing Office Manager. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing a team of Tekla Steel Detailers and ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality steel detailing projects.
The successful candidate will play a central role in driving performance, maintaining standards, and supporting continuous improvement across the drawing office function.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of Tekla Steel Detailers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment
- Oversee the production of accurate and timely steel fabrication drawings and models
- Ensure all deliverables meet required quality standards, client specifications, and project timelines
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and production teams to ensure seamless project delivery
- Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects, balancing workload and priorities
- Implement and maintain best practices, workflows, and quality control procedures within the drawing office
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive continuous development initiatives
- Support the onboarding and training of new team members
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and health & safety requirements
- Proven experience in a drawing office environment, ideally within structural steel or construction
- Previous experience managing or supervising a team is highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of Tekla Structures and steel detailing processes
- Background in construction management or a related discipline is preferred
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across teams
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
- Experience working on large-scale or complex steel projects
- Familiarity with fabrication and installation processes
- Ability to implement new systems or technologies within a drawing office
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance
