The Role

We are currently recruiting a Professionally Qualified Social Worker to join Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within CHO8. CAMHS provides outpatient, community-based assessment and intervention services to children and young people up to 18 years of age who present with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, person-centred social work interventions to children, young people, and their families, in line with best practice, legislation, and national mental health frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will provide mental health social work assessments and interventions for service users and their families, including family-based work where appropriate. You will actively contribute to multidisciplinary case planning, risk assessment, and care delivery under the leadership of the Consultant Psychiatrist and Principal Social Worker.

You will ensure practice is evidence-based, recovery-oriented, culturally competent, and compliant with relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards. Responsibilities also include comprehensive report writing, case conference participation, court attendance where required, facilitation of groups and projects, and maintaining accurate clinical records.

You will engage in clinical supervision, reflective practice, and continuous professional development, while also contributing to service development, audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives. Supporting colleagues, student social workers, and promoting integrated service delivery across agencies will form part of the role.

Education, Training & Professional Development
  • Participate in ongoing CPD in line with CORU and organisational requirements
  • Engage in supervision and professional development planning
  • Contribute to student education, staff training, and professional consultation
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national policies, legislation, and best practice
Health & Safety
  • Adhere to the Mental Health Act 2001, HIQA Standards, and all relevant HSE policies
  • Promote safe practice, risk management, and sustainable workplace initiatives

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Requirements:

  • Registration on the Social Workers Register maintained by CORU
  • Maintain live annual CORU registration
  • Demonstrated professional competence and suitability for the role
  • Access to appropriate transport to meet service needs
