I am working with a well-established heavy manufacturing organisation in the Limerick region to recruit an experienced Mechanical Engineer on a permanent basis. This is a site-based role with strong exposure to plant maintenance and capital improvement projects in a highly regulated industrial environment.
The Position
You will join a multidisciplinary engineering and maintenance team and take ownership of a defined plant area. The position combines hands-on maintenance engineering with involvement in large-scale plant improvement and upgrade projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing preventative and predictive maintenance activities within your assigned plant area
- Planning and executing major shutdowns and overhauls
- Troubleshooting plant issues to maximise availability and reliability
- Managing contractors and ensuring works are delivered safely on time and to budget
- Driving continuous improvement across safety, environmental and engineering standards
- Supporting the scoping, installation, commissioning and handover of capital projects
- Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within heavy industry or manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of health and safety systems
- Proven ability to manage contractors and complex maintenance activities
- Solid IT skills, including MS Office and AutoCAD
- Commercial awareness, strong communication skills and a detail-focused approach
