Job Description:As an HGV Mechanic in the road surfacing, tarmacadam, and asphalt industry, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy goods vehicles and plant machinery used in surfacing operations. Your role ensures the reliability, safety, and compliance of essential equipment that supports road construction and maintenance projects.

Minimum Annual Remuneration & Benefits: €36,000 per year (based on experience)
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 2 years with a possibility of extension20 days annual leave
Location of Employment: Rochmoyle LTD, Moyle Big, Moyle, Co. Carlow
Hours of Work: 39 hours per week.
Monday to Thursday: 8 am to 4:45pm (45min break)Friday: 8 am to 3:45pm (45min break)
Key Responsibilities: Service, maintain, and repair heavy goods vehicles and surfacing plant machinery.
Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.Ensure vehicles and equipment are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with regulations.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
Maintain surfacing-specific equipment such as asphalt pavers, rollers, and bitumen sprayers.
Respond to on-site breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs.
Keep accurate maintenance records and service logs.
Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Support surfacing teams by ensuring vehicle readiness and operational efficience
Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in servicing and repairing HGVs and plant machinery.
Mechanical qualificationHGV driving licence (Class 2 or Class 1 preferred).
Knowledge of surfacing equipment (e.g., pavers, rollers, bitumen sprayers).
Diagnostic skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Familiarity with DVSA regulations and vehicle compliance standards.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Ability to work independently and respond to breakdowns on-site.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
