Freshford Community HallRole Purpose
The Caretaker/Groundsperson will take responsibility for the upkeep, cleanliness, and safety of the community hall and its surrounding grounds. This role ensures that the hall is well-prepared for meetings, events, and activities, while the outdoor areas remain tidy, safe, and welcoming for all users.
Key Responsibilities
Hall Caretaking & Maintenance
Open and close the hall for bookings, events, and community activities.
Ensure the hall, meeting rooms, kitchen, toilets, and storage areas are kept clean and tidy.
Set up and take down furniture, equipment, and staging for events.
Carry out minor maintenance and repairs (painting, carpentry, plumbing, etc.).
Report major issues to the Hall Committee or external contractors.
Grounds & Outdoor Areas
Maintain green areas, pathways, and car parks around the hall.
Carry out grass cutting, strimming, sweeping, weeding, and seasonal planting.
Keep entrances, walkways, and outdoor seating areas safe and presentable.
Clear leaves, litter, and snow/ice where necessary.
Health, Safety & Security
Conduct regular checks of the hall and grounds to identify hazards.
Ensure fire exits and access routes are always clear.
Lock up and secure the hall, gates, and equipment after use.
Support health and safety compliance (fire drills, risk assessments, signage).
Community Support
Provide assistance to hall users, groups, and event organisers.
Work alongside volunteers and community members on improvement projects.
Support preparations for community events, fundraisers, and seasonal activities.- Sector:
