Application Details

Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

Position Title: Caretaker / Gardener (Community Employment – Developmental Opportunity)

This is a developmental opportunity, and no previous experience is required. Fully accredited training will be provided to support participants in developing skills and building a career in horticulture and grounds maintenance.

Duties Include:
  • General gardening and grounds maintenance
  • Planting, weeding, pruning, and lawn care
  • Maintaining outdoor areas for community use
  • Working as part of a team supporting the local community
Key Requirement:
Irish Sign Language (ISL) is essential for this role. The successful participant will be working closely with members of the Deaf community, where ISL is the first language.
  • All participants will be expected to learn ISL
  • ISL classes will be provided as part of the programme
Eligibility (Community Employment – CE):

  • People aged 21 years or over who are in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more, or
  • People aged 18 years and over from certain disadvantaged groups

Eligibility must be verified by the Department of Social Protection.
