What We’re Building
For AI builders, Jentic is where AI meets APIs, providing a comprehensive solution to intelligently hook AI agents up to unlimited APIs and workflows, with an emphasis on security and reliability. For regular users, Jentic allows AI agents to be easily created and run, powered by their favourite LLM and Jentic’s backend infrastructure.A product manager can design an agent that updates dashboards and notifies the team. A sales rep can create an agent that books meetings or updates CRM records. A software developer can run a Jentic agent on their own infrastructure, or supercharge their existing agents by integrating Jentic.
Your Role
As a Senior Software Engineer for our core product, you will:
- Design and implement robust, scalable APIs and backend services from the ground up.
- Develop core platform features such as authentication, authorization, and role/permissions management, integrating tightly with our Agentic API layer that powers open-source AI workflows.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and leadership team to shape the architecture and long-term technical strategy of our AI-native platform.
- Lead backend development initiatives, making key technical decisions and driving delivery of high-impact features.
- Take ownership of system performance, reliability, and maintainability, ensuring our backend can scale with the business.
- Stay close to emerging AI technologies and help assess how they can be incorporated into our stack.
- Contribute across the full stack where needed.
- Grow into a technical leadership position as the company scales, mentoring engineers and influencing culture.
Please note:
- We work in-office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs) at our Dublin 2 HQ - we find this supports fast iteration and close collaboration at our stage. Our core hours are 10am to 4pm, with flexibility to start and end your day outside of that window.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking an individual who:
- Has 7+ years experience building production software, with a strong emphasis on backend development.
- Has deep experience designing and scaling RESTful APIs; including authentication, authorization, rate-limiting, and versioning.
- Is highly proficient in Python, with FastAPI experience preferred.
- Understands distributed system design, service-oriented architecture, and how to scale services in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Has worked with databases at scale (both relational and NoSQL), caching systems, and async task queues.
- Builds with performance, maintainability, and observability in mind (metrics, logs, tracing).
- Energised by building in a dynamic, fast-evolving space, and takes initiative without waiting to be asked.
- Has a track record of building complex systems from scratch or modernizing legacy ones.
- Is curious about AI and wants to help figure out how it intersects with software architecture.
- Brings entrepreneurial energy: whether through startups, open source, or solo projects, you’ve built things under your own steam.
