Overview- On behalf of our client. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technical Project Manager to lead the rollout of a significant Building upgrade projects, starting with a WLAN infrastructure upgrade across healthcare facilities in the Galway area. This is a pivotal role contributing to the delivery of safe, modern, and connected healthcare environments. This senior-level technical post sits within the Capital & Estates function, which manages the development, maintenance, and optimisation of physical infrastructure to support high-quality health services. This Project is currently in the intimacy phases with their ICT department and we are welcoming applications from level 8 academic Project Managers to take ownership of this and additional Building upgrade projects there after.
National WLAN Project:
- Our client, is rolling out a national WLAN network to enhance connectivity and address the increasing need for WLAN services across its facilities. This position is for the Galway region. (We have additional regional vacancies nationwide) This role includes;
Planning and Design:
- The initial phase involves planning and designing the new network to ensure optimal coverage and support for various applications.
Site Surveys:
- As part of the planning process, site surveys are being conducted to determine the optimal placement of access points and any necessary cabling requirements.
- Lead the planning, design, and implementation of the WLAN upgrade programme across acute and non-acute sites in Galway.
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams, external consultants, and contractors to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
- Liaise with stakeholders across IT, Estates, Clinical, and Operational units to define requirements and coordinate implementation.
- Manage all aspects of procurement, regulatory compliance, commissioning, budgeting, reporting, and risk management.
- Ensure integration of WLAN infrastructure with existing and planned healthcare service delivery models.
- Support the wider estates development programme, including capital projects, property management, energy efficiency, and statutory compliance.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Level 8 (or higher) QQI qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or full Chartered Membership of Engineers Ireland (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in project management, design, construction, or building services in complex environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of building infrastructure, ICT systems integration, and estates project delivery.
- Proven ability to manage high-value, multi-stakeholder projects in a regulated environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in healthcare or similar infrastructure or large-scale ICT systems (or similar) implementation.
- Familiarity with HIQA standards, public procurement, and statutory health regulations.
