Application Details

Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.

Job Description

Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

The employment of the administrative position is on a part time basis and expected to be 5 days per week totalling 19.5 hours per week. The intended days will be 2 and a half per week, Monday & Tuesday 9am-5pm and Wednesday 9am - 1.30pm.

Youth Work Ireland North Connaught Community Employment Scheme is a project funded by the Department of Social Protection in which employs participants to work within its own services and also with other community-based organisations in Sligo Town.

Duties will include:

Liaising with Information Assistants on secretarial work regarding date work is to be completed by / style of typing / layout and presentation etc, Typing of reports, posters, assignments, powerpoint presentations and other secretarial work accurately, Consult with other staff members to ensure work is completed accurately and to customer’s satisfaction, Inputting data, managing and updating client’s files, Assist customers with specific requests such as photocopying, binding, laminating, scanning etc, Receptionist cover when needed – greeting customers, answering telephone queries, taking messages and forwarding to appropriate member of staff, Handling cash transactions and recording all transactions in cash sheet, Training in the use of equipment (telephone system, photocopier, laminator, binder, interactive screen etc)

Partake in maintaining the cleanliness of office space and common areas, Ongoing training in customer service, computers/software and reception/admin, Ongoing training in information specific training eg SUSI, CAO, Driver Theory, DSP etc, Provide 1:1 service to members of the public such as Driver Theory, CV updates and any other services provided by the Youth Information Centre.

It is expected that all staff will understand that the work is confidential and that all personal details about clients and other staff members must not be divulged to members of the public.
