Manufacturing Engineer (Athlone)
Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing and validating production processes to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality manufacturing performance. This role focuses on process design, equipment layout, yield improvement, and validation activities supporting continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Drive manufacturing yield and process performance improvements through data analysis, process validation, and equipment qualification.
- Design and develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts for assemblies, machining, and material handling systems.
- Specify and optimize the sequence of operations and process parameters to achieve consistent product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Design the arrangement of machinery and workstations to maximize workflow, safety, and space utilization.
- Evaluate equipment performance, troubleshoot deficiencies, and implement corrective and preventive actions to sustain process reliability.
- Integrate inspection and test requirements into production plans to ensure product and process conformity.
- Collaborate with engineering, validation, and quality functions to ensure manufacturing processes meet design intent and regulatory expectations.
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) to drive process capability enhancements.
- Provide technical guidance to design and project engineering teams on manufacturability and equipment utilization.
- Ensure all manufacturing processes and documentation comply with relevant regulations, standards, and site procedures.
Requirements:
- Level 8 Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience in process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), yield analysis, and equipment qualification.
- Proficiency in process design, layout optimization, and troubleshooting production line issues.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills with experience in SPC, Minitab, or equivalent tools.
- Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and production teams.
- Strong documentation and compliance orientation with understanding of regulatory and quality system requirements.
