We’re delighted working with our client a global leader in energy-efficient climate solutions to recruit a Design Engineer for their team based in Cork. The company specialises in advanced HVAC systems, offering a collaborative and innovative workplace focused on sustainability and engineering excellence.
For you:
Monday – Friday 8am – 4.30pm (3.30 on Fridays)5 days on site (Hybrid opportunities on completion of probation)

Responsibilities:
Report directly to the Product Engineering Manager and support the engineering team in developing design concepts for speciality HVAC systems, including AHUs (Air Handling Units), IECs (Indirect Evaporative Coolers), DECs (Direct Evaporative Coolers), and CDUs (Cooling Distribution Units).
Perform component verification and selection for key HVAC elements such as coils, compressors, fans, dampers, actuators, filters, and louvres.Prepare and review technical documentation including Installation and Maintenance Manuals, critical spare parts lists, technical submittals, component selections, drawings, unit datasheets, and related materials.
Assist the Application Engineering team with tender submissions by reviewing technical specifications and compiling technical responses in collaboration with the design team and key account manager.
Ensure all unit designs align with approved project specifications and client requirements.
Coordinate closely with the production team to ensure smooth and accurate integration of designs into manufacturing processes.
Maintain consistent design standards and quality across all projects related to key clients.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by contributing to the development and refinement of engineering processes and design standards.
Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Building Services, or a related discipline.Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in mechanical HVAC design and component selection, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in CAD and 3D modelling software, specifically SolidWorks.
Strong understanding of HVAC components and systems, including AHUs, IECs, DECs, and CDUs.
Experience preparing and interpreting technical documentation, such as technical submittals, datasheets, and installation manuals.
Moderate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and general IT literacy.
Ability to interpret 2D technical drawings.
Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Positive, proactive approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
