Laboratory Assistant (Part-Time, Temporary Contract)

Pay Rate: €14.65 per hour

FRS Recruitment, on behalf of our client near the Celbridge area, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support laboratory operations during a busy seasonal period. This is a hands-on position suited to someone organised, reliable, and comfortable with manual work in a laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of reagents for testing (0.05M PBS and 70% Ethanol)
• Monitoring and restocking consumables for farm and molecular labs
• Washing and autoclaving of equipment
• Waste management and disposal duties
• Transporting samples (10kg bags) using an electric trolley – heavy lifting required
• Preparing samples for analysis (e.g. potato coring)
• Labelling and maintaining accurate records
• General laboratory maintenance and housekeeping, including:
• Cleaning floors and surfaces
• Restocking soap and tissue dispensers
• Collecting and restocking lab coats
• Occasional sample registration using LIMS (Labvantage)
• Supporting additional laboratory duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager

Requirements:

• Manual Handling certification (required)
• Full driving licence and access to own vehicle (required)
• Strong computer and IT skills
• Good communication and organisational abilities
• Previous experience as a Lab Attendant (desirable)
• Experience with LIMS or Labvantage systems (desirable)
