We are actively seeking a dependable, hands-on Caretaker to take ownership of the day-to-day upkeep, safety and presentation of buildings and astroturf.New Ross Celtic AFC is a busy community sports hub, providing high-quality all-weather facilities to local teams, clubs and the wider community.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
This position is central to keeping the club running smoothly each evening between 6.00pm & 10.00pm Monday to Friday. You will be the on-site point of contact, keeping the grounds secure, clean and well maintained so that every visitor has a positive experience.You will take pride in keeping the facilities in top condition and spotting issues before they become problems.
Open and close the buildings, gates and internal rooms each shiftAct as a friendly, helpful presence for teams and members of the public
Keep the astroturf cages, clubhouse and parking areas clear of rubbish
Manage lost-and-found items
Oversee astroturf bookings and ensure smooth handovers
Carry out weekly astroturf care (brushing, basic timber repairs, minor fixes)
Perform routine inspections and report any damage promptly
Handle general maintenance tasks across the clubhouse and astroturf areas
Maintain consistently high cleanliness and hygiene standards
Manage lighting as required
Replace consumables (soap, toilet rolls, bin bags, etc.)
Support and oversee users of the astroturf to ensure safe and respectful use
Undertake any other reasonable tasks needed to keep the facilities running safely and effectively

Organised enough to plan workloads but flexible enough to handle busy evenings
While not essential, the following abilities will strengthen your application: Basic DIY or maintenance experience (e.g., small repairs, using tools safely)
Experience managing bookings or handling cash/online systemsFamiliarity with cleaning standards for public facilities
Confidence identifying safety issues and addressing them early
Ability to keep simple records (maintenance logs, issues reported, consumables used)
A practical mindset with good problem-solving skills
Awareness of safe working practices around sporting facilities
