Temporary Consultant in Emergency Medicine
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our multidisciplinary team at Beaumont Hospital. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical leadership and high quality emergency care to our diverse patient population.The adult only Emergency Department at Beaumont Hospital provides care to in excess of 60,000 patients annually with a catchment population amongst the oldest in Ireland. The Emergency Medicine team at Beaumont Hospital are deeply committed to providing high quality patient care with an ethos focused on patient safety, clinical governance and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be provided with an opportunity to contribute to our impactful patient –centred research and academic profile; as well as our structured education programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate training.
This is a temporary appointment under the Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023 at Beaumont Hospital (37 hours per week). Applicants must be registered on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners as maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in the speciality of Emergency Medicine.

Beaumont Hospital, incorporating St. Joseph’s Raheny, is a large academic teaching hospital 5km north of Dublin City centre. It is the lead Level 4 hospital within the Royal College of Surgeons Hospital Group, which includes Connolly Hospital, the Rotunda Hospital, Cavan / Monaghan Hospitals, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, with its academic partners The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland University of Medicine & Health Sciences and Dublin City University.
With a workforce of approximately 4,500 staff and a combined bed complement of 1058 (IP & DC) beds, Beaumont Hospital is the principal teaching hospital for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Beaumont Hospital provides emergency and acute care services across 54 medical specialties to a local community of some 290,000 people. In addition, it is a designated Cancer Centre and the regional treatment centre for Ear, Nose & Throat, and Gastroenterology, the national referral centre for Neurosurgery and Neurology, Renal Transplantation, the National Poisons Information Centre, Cochlear Implantation and Mechanical Thrombectomy.The Hospital has been recently designated as a European Stroke Organisation (ESO) stroke centre.
