Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care: Assisting with tasks like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Mobility Support: Helping residents or clients move around, including using mobility aids, and ensuring their safety.
Medication Assistance:
Administering medication as prescribed, following instructions, and reporting any concerns to relevant healthcare professionals.
Meal Preparation and Feeding: Helping with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring adequate nutrition and hydration.Monitoring Health and Well-being: Observing and reporting any changes in physical or mental health to the appropriate staff.
Encouraging Activity: Supporting residents or clients to participate in social and physical activities.
Maintaining a Safe Environment: Ensuring the environment is safe and comfortable for residents/clients, and reporting any hazards.
Communication and Documentation:
Maintaining clear communication with residents/clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, and accurately documenting care provided.
Work Environments:
Care Homes: Providing support to residents in a communal living setting.
Home Support: Providing support to individuals in their own homes.
Essential Skills and Qualities:
Empathy and Compassion: Understanding and responding to the emotional and physical needs of others.
Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with residents/clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
Physical Stamina: Being able to assist with mobility and other physical tasks.
Attention to Detail: Accurately administering medication, monitoring health, and maintaining records.
Patience and Respect: Treating residents/clients with dignity and respect, and respecting their independence.
