Speech and Language Therapist – Psychiatry of later life, Portlaoise, Co Laois
Speech and Language Therapist (Basic or Senior applicants will be considered)– required for locum role with Psychiatry of later life service, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
The HSE Psychiatry of Later Life (POLL) service provides specialized mental health care for individuals typically over 65 years old, focusing on conditions like dementia, depression, psychosis, Parkinson’s and other conditions associated with old age.
As a speech and language Therapist, you will work as part of a community-based multidisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and care staff, providing SLT management of communication and dysphagia needs in conjunction with the person’s recovery goals
POLL services are accessible via GP referral and offer assessment, home visits, in-patient care, and liaison services with acute hospitals for integrated, recovery-focused care.
The role will involve travel between clinics and some home visits or the option of part-time working on one site. Supervision will be provided by the community SLT manager.
Interested candidates are required to have:
- A recognised qualification as a Speech and Language Therapy and CORU registration.
- In order to be considered for a senior grade role, a minimum of 3 years post qualification clinical experience with a significant amount of experience within a mental health setting and/or working with older adults is required
- In order to be considered for a staff grade position, candidates will ideally have some post qualification experience in a similar setting, placement experience will be considered.
