Community Champion

Locations: Longford & Athlone
Contract: Part time; 2–4 days per week, with flexibility to manage your hours responsibly around community needs
Working pattern: Mix of infield community work and remote homebased hours

Hourly rate: €14.15 + performance related bonus

Specsavers is built on community spirit, genuine care, and the belief that everyone deserves access to better sight and hearing. We’re looking for a confident, outgoing Community Champion to represent our Longford and Athlone stores — someone who thrives on meeting people, building relationships, and bringing our values to life across both communities.

What you’ll be doing
  • Building strong connections with local groups, schools, charities, and organisations.
  • Planning and delivering community events, health awareness activities, and outreach programmes.
  • Acting as a warm, proactive ambassador for both stores — someone who enjoys starting conversations and opening doors.
  • Identifying opportunities to raise awareness of eye and hearing health and turning those opportunities into meaningful action.
  • Creating engaging stories and updates for social media and local press to highlight your community impact.
  • Supporting the instore teams by bringing in new partnerships and engagement opportunities.
  • Splitting your time between infield community visits and remote homebased planning, follow-up, and communication.
  • Travelling between Longford and Athlone as part of your weekly routine.
What we’re looking for
  • A natural communicator who's confident approaching new people and building rapport quickly.
  • Someone who enjoys being out in the community and is equally comfortable working independently from home.
  • A self-starter who’s motivated, persistent, and comfortable taking the lead on outreach activities.
  • Strong communication skills — both face-to-face and over the phone — with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
  • Resilience, enthusiasm, and the drive to keep going even when plans change or challenges pop up.
  • Solid organisational skills to manage multiple projects across two locations.
  • A full driving licence, as travel between Longford and Athlone is essential.
What you’ll get from us
  • €14.15 per hour, plus a performance related bonus.
  • A supportive team that values your ideas, energy, and initiative.
  • The chance to shape meaningful community programmes that genuinely make a difference.
  • Training and development to help you grow your skills and confidence.
  • A role where every day brings new people, new conversations, and new opportunities.

Ready to champion your community?

If you’re enthusiastic, proactive, and excited to bring Specsavers’ mission to life across Longford and Athlone, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and help us make eye and hearing care accessible to everyone in the community.
