Senior Equipment Engineer
A Senior Equipment Engineer is responsible for the selection, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment within a regulated production environment. The role focuses on improving equipment reliability, maximizing uptime, supporting technical problem-solving, and leading equipment-related projects from design through implementation.
Responsibilities- Evaluate, select, and specify manufacturing equipment that meets operational, technical, and cost requirements.
- Lead equipment installation, commissioning, qualification, modification, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Monitor equipment performance, reliability, and lifecycle metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase equipment uptime and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Investigate equipment-related issues and establish effective technical solutions to support manufacturing operations.
- Provide technical support to equipment maintenance, manufacturing, and process engineering teams.
- Develop, review, and maintain preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
- Maintain records relating to equipment manufacturers' technical notifications, upgrades, modifications, and safety requirements.
- Lead or support equipment improvement initiatives, new technology implementation projects, and process optimization activities.
- Perform root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to address equipment failures and recurring issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and technical specialists to achieve project and operational objectives.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to engineers, technicians, and junior team members.
- Support project planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring compliance with applicable quality, safety, and engineering standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant equipment engineering experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, maintenance systems, reliability engineering, and equipment lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting equipment installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization activities.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse equipment performance data and implement reliability and uptime improvements.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance strategies and equipment maintenance best practices.
- Experience managing technical projects and coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills within complex manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities and projects.
- Experience interacting with vendors, contractors, and senior internal stakeholders.
- Strong communication, leadership, mentoring, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to identify and implement process, system, and equipment improvements to enhance operational performance.
