Procurement Category Manager
About us
We are a global FinTech & RegTech success story scaling rapidly across North America, Europe, and Asia. With industry-leading products, deep client trust, and strong commercial momentum, Fenergo is shaping the future of digital client lifecycle management and regulatory transformation.
As we continue to scale, the sophistication of our vendor ecosystem, technology stack, and spend profile has increased substantially. Our Strategic Procurement & Value Management (SP&VM) function is newly established and growing — a next-generation procurement capability that is strategic, insight-led, commercially sharp, and tightly aligned to our legal, financial, risk, and operational governance model.Built with CFO backing and a clear operating model, SP&VM's mandate is not simply to reduce cost — it is to maximise the return on external spend, drive commercial rigour, build vendor partnerships, support scalable growth, and help drive business decisions.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a commercially sharp Procurement Category Manager to join the SP&VM team in Dublin. This is a pivotal hire: someone who can deliver tangible cost and value outcomes today, while helping to build the systems, disciplines, and relationships that will define a world-class procurement function tomorrow.
The world's leading CPOs are unanimous: procurement mandate has shifted from cost centre to strategic enabler. At Fenergo, we are building a function that reflects exactly that — and this role is central to it. You will work across the full cycle of category management, from spend analysis and sourcing strategy through commercial negotiations and contract governance, with direct exposure to Finance, Legal, and senior leadership.
You will bring both the commercial discipline to deliver near-term savings and the curiosity and judgement to help shape what comes next.
What You'll Do
Category Strategy & Sourcing- Develop and implement category strategies for assigned indirect spend categories, conducting market analysis and supplier benchmarking to identify opportunities for cost optimisation and innovation
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, supplier negotiations, and contract awards
- Using category insights from our data and procurement tools, surface and present opportunities for category optimisation, supplier consolidation, and commercial value creation — translating data and reports into actionable recommendations that drive measurable impact on Fenergo's cost base, vendor performance and business decisions."
- Deliver measurable savings and value creation initiatives with Finance-validated baselines and clear P&L mapping
- Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of commercial playbooks for key spend categories
- Lead commercial negotiations with vendors, securing improved pricing, terms and service commitments
- Own the contract lifecycle for assigned categories — renewals, amendments, and new agreements — working in close partnership with Legal and Risk teams to mitigate contractual and operational risks
- Apply should cost modelling and commercial benchmarking to build a fact-based view of vendor cost structures, underpinning negotiation strategy with evidence
- Maintain a proactive renewal calendar, ensuring no contract lapses or auto-renews without prior commercial review and leverage assessment
- Review vendor contracts, flagging deviations and risks for Legal escalation, and upholding Fenergo's commercial standards
- Support the Senior Manager on complex or high-stakes negotiations when required
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and performance through KPIs, SLAs, and regular structured business reviews (QBRs)
- Drive supplier consolidation and rationalisation where appropriate, and actively manage supplier concentration risk
- Build supplier relationships that move beyond transactional to value-creating — surfacing pricing model innovations, service improvements, and strategic alignment opportunities
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Risk, and business stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure procurement is embedded in decision-making — acting as a strategic partner, not a gatekeeper
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams on procurement best practices, commercial strategy, and vendor value — building credibility through outcomes, not process
- Champion procurement policy, sourcing standards, and approval frameworks across the business
- Support the rollout of SP&VM governance cadences, including cross-functional reviews and the weekly CFO reporting cycle
- Use AI and digital procurement tools to improve efficiency, quality, and speed of procurement activity — reflecting Fenergo's commitment to an AI-enabled operating model
Requirements
Experience & Skills (Essential)- 4+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management role, ideally in a technology, SaaS, FinTech, or professional services environment
- Proven track record of delivering cost savings and managing commercial negotiations end-to-end — from strategy through to signed contract
- Strong contract management capability — comfortable reviewing, negotiating, and influencing commercial terms across a range of vendor types
- Analytically strong: able to work with spend data, financial models, and contract intelligence to build a compelling negotiation case
- Excellent stakeholder management skills — able to build trust and influence at senior level without direct authority
- Experience working closely with Finance, Legal and Risk teams, translating data and compliance requirements into commercial outcomes
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where the function and its processes are still being built — a builder as much as a deliverer
The Person (Essential)
We hire for the future, not just for today. Beyond technical procurement skills, we are looking for someone who brings:
- Intellectual curiosity — a genuine drive to understand how businesses and markets work, and to ask better questions than your counterparts across the table
- Sharp commercial judgement — the ability to assess risk, trade-off, and value in ambiguous situations, and to make and defend sound decisions
- Business acumen — you think like a business partner, not a process owner; you understand P&L dynamics, margin, and what 'value' really means to a CFO
- Digital fluency — comfortable with AI, modern procurement tools and genuinely interested in how AI and data can make procurement sharper and faster
- Collaboration and empathy — you build relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders alike; procurement wins are team wins
- Courage — willing to push back on a bad deal, challenge a business assumption, or raise a risk even when it is uncomfortable to do so
- Experience in FinTech, RegTech, SaaS, or a similarly regulated, high-growth technology environment
- Familiarity with indirect spend categories: cloud infrastructure, SaaS licensing, professional services, or consultancy
- Experience with procurement or spend management platforms such as Vertice, Zip or equivalent
- Exposure to TPRM, InfoSec/Privacy vendor review processes, or regulated sector procurement
- Experience using AI tools to support contract review, spend analysis, or workflow management
