The AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) is one of the fastest-growing AWS businesses, providing super-simple provisioning and management for relational databases in the cloud. Customers can set up a new database with just a few clicks, and complex administrative tasks like scaling, fail-over, and monitoring are all handled in an automated fashion by our control systems.

As a software developer in the RDS team in Dublin, you will get to design, develop, deploy and operate quality solutions that help external and internal customer interface with the RDS service at scale via API and graphical interfaces.

AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry.

As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

Key job responsibilities

You are a full-stack engineer, and have a passion for implementing world-class user interfaces making use of the latest and best web technologies.

Experience using contemporary front-end web technologies such as: Java, ReactJS, AngularJS, Backbone, NodeJS, SASS, Vite and testing approaches

Good command of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures, design patterns, algorithm design and problem solving

Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
