As an Interaction Designer you:
As the Product Design Lead, you will plan and execute design activities on projects. This starts by working with sponsors and senior stakeholders to set the vision. You'll work with other subject matter experts to develop a holistic understanding of people, technology, data and their interdependencies.You will be deeply integrated into the product development lifecycle, with a focus on creating products people use that solve real problems.
Work on defining concepts, strategies and digital interface to design artefacts at a project level. You'll have a strong appreciation for service and interaction design and technology, as well as the ability to elegantly adapt designs across devices; and you'll work across the entire end-to-end experience.
You are a strong visual communicator who creates artefacts to share insights with stakeholders, in order to support ideation and concept generation. You'll be comfortable collaborating closely with software engineers, data scientists and subject-matter experts to create digital products that utilise emerging technology in a responsible manner.
Ideally, you'll have experience with the creation and delivery of digital products and services, working in agile teams and transferring proofs of concept for implementation.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Strategic skills in managing cross-functional design teams to deliver powerful, effective and coherent design solutions
- Solve end-to-end design problems, from identifying user/business needs and generating concepts to defining and creating products and services.
- Ownership for all design deliverables, including the ability to evaluate design outputs to ensure quality and the ability to work across the entire end-to-end experience
- Communicate design concepts for digital products through various artefacts, such as sketches, wireframes, navigation flows, information architecture, final UI designs and interactive prototypes.
- Explore and push the boundaries of design by working with emerging technologies such as Generative AI, voice, and mixed reality, while understanding key patterns, use cases, and responsible design considerations.
- Navigate complex internal and external stakeholder environments to help identify the core problem and work collaboratively to solve it with other designers, innovation practitioners, data scientists, and strategists.
- Support and execute design research activities.
- Synthesise research to uncover insights and design rapid prototypes for stakeholder testing.
- Communicate ideas and concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Explain, discuss, and justify design decisions effectively; provide and receive constructive design feedback.
- Support new business development efforts by providing expert design guidance in pitches and proposals.
- Support the wider project team in the day-to-day execution of the project plan.
- Act as a design ambassador for The Dock by attending and leading community events, workshops, and conferences.
- Ability to create concept models at both the user and systems level.
- Be fluent in articulating the links between client problem, human experience and their team's proposed solutions from a business value perspective.
- Curiosity, interest, and experience in experimenting with emerging technologies.
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
- Understanding of other design specialisations, including but not limited to Visual Design, Content Design, and Business Design.
