About the Legal Cost Accountant Role
This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a high-volume caseload, representing the organisation in negotiations and at court adjudications, and contributing to the effective management of costs.
Responsibilities of the Legal Cost Accountant:
Analyse and scrutinise solicitors’ bills of costs, including determining liability for payment.Represent the organisation at Circuit Court and High Court adjudications and negotiate settlements where appropriate.
Prepare and present oral or written submissions as required.
Liaise with external panel solicitors, legal advisers, and delegated State authorities regarding legal costs queries.
Manage a large and varied caseload of costs claims.
Contribute to reporting requirements and support the Head of Legal Costs, in-house solicitors, and claims management teams.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the Legal Costs Unit.
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a legal costs management environment, with a strong focus on negotiation and adjudication.Proven ability to manage a high-volume portfolio of costs claims.
Excellent judgment, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Strong report writing, IT, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
Membership of a recognised professional governing body is desirable.
Knowledge of the legal costs industry and processes is preferred.
