PE Global are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to join our client, a leading infrastructure contractor to be based in Cork.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and the management of a team of 7-8 safety officers and advisors.

Due to extensive growth over the last number of years, there is a requirement for an additional member to the HSQE team, a highly varied and challenging role providing invaluable exposure to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Development and Implementation
  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensuring policies comply with local regulations
Risk Assessment and Management
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards
Team Leadership
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Performance management and strong team delivery of objectives in line with company values
Training and Communication
  • Devise training programs for employees on HSQE practices
  • Ensure employees are aware of and understand safety protocols
Incident Management
  • Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities
Regulatory Compliance
  • Staying up-to-date with health and safety regulations
  • Ensuring the organization complies with all relevant laws and standards
Client and Stakeholder Management
  • Liaise with the client and regulatory bodies on health, safety, and environmental matters
  • Provide regular updates and reports on safety performance and compliance metrics to senior leadership team

Key Competencies and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager or in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and best practices
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and health and safety management software
  • Competent report writing skills for submission to Senior Leadership team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is preferred
  • Full Irish Driving Licence
