Job Overview
The Groundworker is responsible for carrying out essential groundwork operations on civil engineering projects in the Clonmel area. The role includes drainage, excavation, concrete works, and site preparation, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
Excavate and prepare trenches for drainage and underground services
Install drainage systems, ducting, and utilities
Prepare foundations and sub-bases
Lay kerbs, paving, and concrete
Assist with concrete pouring, levelling, and finishing
Backfill and compact materials using appropriate equipment
Work from site drawings, levels, and supervisor instructions
Assist machine operators and work as part of the site team
Maintain safe and tidy working areas
Follow all health and safety regulations and site procedures
Skills & Requirements
Proven experience in groundworks or civil engineering
Knowledge of drainage systems and concrete works
Ability to read drawings and work to levels (advantageous)
Safe Pass (mandatory in Ireland)
Manual Handling certification
Strong awareness of health & safety procedures
Ability to work as part of a team
Physically fit and capable of manual work
Working Conditions
Outdoor civil engineering site in Clonmel
Physically demanding role
Early starts and possible overtime
Work in varying weather conditions
Full PPE required at all times
Compliance with Irish HSA safety regulations
