Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established planning and environmental consultancy, operating since 2008, with a strong reputation in infrastructure sectors-particularly renewable energy and wireless telecommunications.With offices in Ireland and the UK, they are experiencing sustained growth and are offering an exciting opportunity for a planning professional to join their Galway office.

The Role
The successful candidate will manage a range of infrastructure planning applications and play a key role in guiding and mentoring junior team members. This role offers real responsibility, client exposure, and a chance to contribute directly to impactful national projects in a fast-paced consultancy setting.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and lead on a wide range of planning applications
- Write detailed planning reports and advise planning authorities
- Manage multi-disciplinary project teams, stakeholder engagement, and budgets
- Act as primary point of contact for clients throughout project lifecycles
- Undertake research, desk studies, site visits, and planning assessments
- Analyse planning policy and provide strategic recommendations
- Liaise with planning authorities and statutory bodies
- Mentor and support junior staff
- Attend meetings with clients, project teams, and stakeholders
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 3 years' post-graduate experience in the public or private sector
- A recognised RTPI or IPI planning qualification
- Strong knowledge of the Irish planning system (UK experience also considered)
- Excellent report writing and project management skills
- A solution-focused approach and ability to meet project deadlines
- Confident communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and IT skills
- Highly motivated, ambitious, and capable of handling multiple projects
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
