Are you a proactive and safety-focused utilities maintenance technician with a strong electrical or mechanical background? We’re recruiting for an Electrical Shift Technician to join a dedicated on-site team delivering critical utilities maintenance and calibration services for a world-leading pharmaceutical facility in Dublin.
This is a permanent shift-based role ideal for individuals who thrive in a high-reliability, compliance-driven environment and are committed to technical excellence and continuous improvements
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor site-critical utility systems (e.g., HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressed air, clean steam, water systems).
- Perform first-line and scheduled maintenance on utilities equipment.
- Respond to equipment alarms and deviations efficiently and escalate issues in line with site procedures.
- Review and sign work permits as area owner during the shift.
- Liaise with subcontractors during planned maintenance.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory and site standards.
- Support updates to SOPs and conduct operational training as needed.
- Ensure all activities are performed in line with EHS guidelines and site IPPC licence conditions.
- Assist with planned and unplanned site shutdowns.
- Participate in reliability and maintenance performance programmes (e.g. MTBF, MTTR, PM/CM ratio).
- Collaborate closely with the site Utilities Engineering Support Team and ensure effective shift handovers.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Senior Trades, City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in industrial utilities—ideally in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with:
- Pumps, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, steam and purified water systems.
- Low/medium voltage electrical systems.
- Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA and PLC control systems.
- Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Reading and interpreting P&IDs and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, EWI, and permit-to-work systems.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organisational skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience in a 24/7 production or utilities environment.
- Working as part of a shift team, with proven teamworking and communication skills.
- Exposure to root cause analysis and reliability improvement processes.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
