Job Title: Caretaker/CleanerLocation: The Catacombs, The Mall, Sligo
Accountable to: The Catacombs Manager & Community Employment Supervisor
The Catacombs Project is situated under Calry Church, The Mall Sligo and entails a development of five disused crypts extensively refurnished into a purpose-built childcare facility and community centre. The employment of a caretaker position is on a part time basis and the normal working week is Monday to Friday 19.5 hrs per week, the intended times are between 9am – 1pm and 9am – 12.30 Friday.
Duties- Communicate with the Manager of Catacombs daily to ensure that a safe environment is maintained in the Catacombs building and outside grounds
- Fulfil caretaking/ cleaner responsibilities on a regular daily basis that are associated with the cleanliness of building and outside grounds
- Perform minor ground maintenance, including the removal of leaves, snow from entrances, walkways.
- Attend to internal and external litter and outside ashtrays
- Prepare work orders with Catacombs Manager for minor repairs
- Requisition and maintain an inventory of caretaking supplies
- Ensure that users of the Catacombs adhere to regulations related to the use of facilities. Investigate unauthorized activities in grounds and report subsequent problems to the Manager of Catacombs
- Assist with setting up of rooms for meetings and events and cleaning of rooms afterwards
- Rolling of knives and forks for children’s dinner
- Responsible to operate all machinery associated to duties, ensuring equipment is properly utilized
- Vacuuming of all rooms, corridors, stairs, staff rooms and empting all waste bins
- Cleaning all glass, mirrors, window ledges and shelving
- Clean, dust and polish furniture and fittings
- Sweep and mop all floor surfaces
- Ensure all toilets and nappy room are cleaned each day and bins emptied and disinfected
- Replace toilet paper, paper towels and soap when required and room sanitisers
- Ensure all rooms are odour free
- Report anything in need of repair or replacement to the Catacombs Manager
- Keep cleaning store and space tidy at all times and ensure that all cleaning materials are clearly labelled and safely stored and ensure that one is familiar with the data in relation
- Ensure all cleaning programmes are checked and signed off each day
- Be prepared to receive and undertake further training as required
- Perform allied and kindred duties as may be required from time to time
- From time to time you may be required to work alongside the cook or kitchen assistant while one or other is absent.
- Participate in in-service training, particularly in relation to Health and Safety
Under Health & Safety Guidelines Steel Cap work shoes/boots are provided and must be worn at all times within Cosy Cats and are only for use within Cosy Cats.
