Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Job Title: Cleaner (Community Employment Scheme)Location: Ballinamore Co. Leitrim
Accountable to: CE Supervisor / Leitrim Coordinator
The employment of the administrative position is on a part time basis and expected to be 5 days per week, however flexible depending on the needs of the centre - totaling 19.5 hours per week.Youth Work Ireland North Connaught Community Employment Scheme is a project funded by the Department of Social Protection in which employs participants to work within its own services and also with other community-based organisations in Sligo Town.
Duties will include:
- Communicate with NCYCS-Leitrim Project Coordinator/Project staff on a daily basis to ensure a safe environment is maintained in centre building and outside grounds,
- Fulfil cleaner responsibilities associated with the centre,
- Open and lock up premises as required and ensure building is secure at all times.
- To keep in safe custody the keys of the building, alarm codes and to ensure that no unauthorised person has access to any part of the building,
- Set up as required rooms for meetings, events and ensure that sufficient equipment, materials, furniture, lighting and heating is in place for users and cleaning of rooms afterwards,
- To keep the centre premises, furniture and fittings etc in a clean condition,
- Attend to internal and external litter,
- Dusting, hoovering & cleaning of offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, toilets, corridors etc daily,
- To keep the centre grounds in good order including attending to flowers, vegetable beds and weeding,
- Requisition and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment,
- Ensure that users of centre adhere to regulations related to use of the facilities,
- Operate all machinery associated with duties safely, ensuring equipment is properly utilised,
- Deal with and report any unauthorised activity and problems associated with centre to coordinator,
- Preparation of meeting and other rooms for groups and meetings and clean up afterwards.
- Assist youth workers preparing (may include getting supplies in local shops) serving food and clean up afterwards.
- Participate in in- house training, particularly related to Health & Safety, Child Protection and any relevant courses.
- Meet and greet visitors to centre and take telephone messages and pass to relevant person.
- To perform such similar and kindred duties as may be required from time to time by the Coordinator/Project Staff.
Under Health & Safety Guidelines Steel Cap work shoes/boots are provided and must be worn during working hours. Any safety workwear provided is for work purposes only and not for personal use.
Garda Clearance and (Police Check if applicable) will be sought and two references willbe required.
