What does this role entail?

The Principal Consultant role is a leadership position that requires expert-level knowledge of domain, product, and delivery methodology to guide and successfully implement Fenergo’s product offering within the client environment. In addition to strong delivery expertise, the Principal Consultant operates in an advisory capacity — engaging with clients from the outset to understand their strategic objectives and align them with Fenergo’s market solutions.

By leveraging deep industry insight and best practices, the Principal Consultant guides clients toward optimal solution design and implementation, ensuring business value, regulatory compliance, and long-term success.

These domains are typically:

  • Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) within the financial services industry;
  • Digital Transformation, Platform & Delivery Methodology
  • Financial Crime Compliance, including anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing,
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Financial Crime & Transaction Monitoring
  • Sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, and fraud.
  • Credit Risk Assessment
  • Financial Markets Regulations.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, leading by example and shaping the strategic direction of client engagements. They will leverage deep domain and product expertise to guide clients toward best-practice solutions, ensuring alignment with market standards and Fenergo’s value proposition.

In addition to providing subject matter expertise and solutioning support, the Principal Consultant will proactively identify opportunities to optimize business outcomes and influence stakeholders across all levels — both internally and externally.

The Principal Consultant will ensure clients realise measurable value from their investment in Fenergo’s solutions swiftly and sustainably, positioning Fenergo as a long-term strategic partner. They are expected to have strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the commercial impact at all stages of delivery.

The Principal Consultant will also support client solutions and sales as needed, ensuring best-practice design and identifying client needs for alignment with product strategy.

The ability to travel (domestic and international) to attend on-site client meetings and/or to other Fenergo offices is also required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, leveraging deep domain and product expertise to shape strategic discussions and guide clients toward market-leading solutions using Fenergo.
  • Deliver tailored demonstrations and solution walkthroughs that illustrate how Fenergo’s capabilities align with client objectives and industry best practices.
  • Engage consultatively with clients, challenging assumptions and requirements to co-create optimal, scalable solutions that deliver measurable business value and align with Fenergo’s strategic vision.
  • Anticipate potential risks or delivery challenges, advising both clients and internal teams on mitigation strategies to ensure smooth execution and project success.
  • Lead proactive stakeholder communication, providing clear, insight-driven updates and ensuring alignment across client and internal teams.
  • Support pre-sales and business development efforts by contributing advisory insight, shaping proposals, and articulating Fenergo’s value proposition to prospective clients.

Practice and leadership:

  • Play a supporting role in shaping the direction of the Functional Delivery Practice
  • Support employee development through line management and becoming an SME in multiple parts of the Fenergo Product and regularly delivering training on these areas
  • Implement efficiencies and improvements that drive consistent, repeatable, successful delivery
  • Keep up to date with changes in industry and regulatory practices, the product offering and content hub
  • Support the Director, Functional Delivery and CCO (Chief Customer Organization), in regional change management efforts
  • Cascade global and regional organisational goals and initiatives to the team

Requirements

Required Experience & Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years’ industry and domain experience implementing, consulting or managing software projects and working on the vendor side within the financial services industry
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal/leadership skills – ability to shape and lead conversations at all levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Effective listening skills
  • Experience offering design solutions
  • Experience leading client engagements and leading a team
  • Proven track record of developing and growing talent through effective people management
Education
  • Degree in Business/Technology or equivalent
