The Supervisor is responsible for the overall daily management and operation of both the Naíonra and Afterschool service. This includes leading a team of educators in creating a safe and Gaeilge-rich environment that supports children’s wellbeing, development, and learning through play, while maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation and quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Curriculum and Child Development
Oversee and support the delivery of a play-based curriculum in the Naíonra aligned with Aistear and Síolta, incorporating Irish language immersion practices.
Ensure age-appropriate, engaging, and inclusive activities are provided in both preschool and afterschool sessions.
Support the use of child observations and assessments to inform curriculum planning and learning experiences.
Leadership and Team ManagementLead and supervise a team of Early Years Educators and Afterschool practitioners.
Organise daily rotas, schedules, and breaks to ensure safe and effective ratios.Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to staff, encouraging reflective practice and professional development.
Coordinate team meetings and foster a positive, inclusive working environment.
Compliance and Administration
Ensure full compliance with Tusla Early Years Regulations 2016, Children First National Guidance, and School-Age Childcare Regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including: Daily records (attendance, food, accidents/incidents)
Fire drills, cleaning schedulesPolicies and procedures review
Assist with reporting to Pobal, ECCE/CCSP/NCS administration, and inspection readiness.
Gaeilge Immersion EnvironmentPromote and model consistent use of the Irish language in all interactions with children, staff, and families.
Plan and support cultural and language-rich activities aligned with the ethos of the Naíonra.
Child Protection and WelfareAct as Designated Liaison Person (DLP) or Deputy DLP as required.
Ensure that the setting is a safe and secure environment for all children.Respond appropriately to any child protection concerns in accordance with Children First guidelines.
Partnership with Parents and CommunityMaintain strong, respectful communication with parents/guardians.
Support families with settling-in, transitions, and developmental concerns.
Build relationships with the local community and feeder schools.
Essential: Minimum Level 6 QQI Major Award in Early Childhood Care & Education (or recognised equivalent).
Strong Irish speaker.Minimum 2 years' experience working in an early years and/or afterschool setting.
Knowledge of Aistear, Síolta, and School-Age Childcare Quality Guidelines.
Garda Vetting clearance and two references.
Strong organisational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable: Level 7 or 8 in Early Childhood Education
Experience managing or supervising a team.Experience with children aged 3–12 years in both early years and afterschool contexts.
