Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and energetic Chef to join our team at our new fast-paced Mexican street food restaurant. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of authentic dishes—from traditional tacos and burritos to regional specialties—ensuring consistency, high quality, and vibrant presentation.The ideal candidate has a deep love for Mexican flavours and thrives in a high-pressure, customer focused environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation: Prepare authentic ingredients from scratch including nixtamalization, masa shaping, and marinating meats for slow-roasting.
Menu Execution: Cook and assemble dishes according to established recipes, and develop new special recipes for NACHOS-MIDLETON, ensuring every plate meets our standards for taste and presentation.Inventory & Stock: Oversee daily inventory, reordering to ensure zero service gaps, check freshness of deliveries, and communicate with managers on cost changes etc. Hygiene & Safety. Maintain a spotless workspace and strictly adhere to food safety (HACCP) and sanitation regulations.
Waste Management: Follow portion control guidelines to minimize food waste and support profitable kitchen operations.Team Collaboration: Work closely with the front-of-house (FOH) team to manage special dietary requests and ensure smooth service during busy shifts.
Required Skills & QualificationsExperience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Chef de Partie or Sous Chef, specifically in Mexican or fast-paced casual dining.
Technical Expertise: Strong knife skills and proficiency in traditional Mexican techniques like roasting chilies, making salsas, and preparing fresh guacamole.
Certifications: Valid Food Handlers Certificate (HACCP) level 2, plan to complete Level 3. Certificate in Mexican Food cooking. Chef Qualification.
Attributes: Exceptional sensory skills (taste/smell), physical stamina to stand for long shifts, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Adaptability: Flexibility to work a rotating schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
